Watching dailies with this guy (who made a cameo) in one of my new feature projects.

This particular film is an amazing experiment in embracing limitations and going as small as possible.

For years people told me to get more financing. Hire a bigger crew. Scale up my productions.

But right now I'm doing the opposite and going truly micro. If nothing else I want to prove it’s possible to benefit from a minimalistic approach, and show that anyone can do it.

So far it’s been a more fun creative process than I could have ever imagined. It will be hard to go back, especially as I juggle other larger feature projects too.

Fun first day on one of my new feature projects wi

Fun first day on one of my new feature projects with @joshpafchek (and a cameo from my 2 1/2 year old). I shot these frames in 1.66:1 aspect ratio on the Fuji X-T4 with my Leica R 50mm. The entire film will be shot with that camera and lens combo, all handheld.

If you love creating art, you don’t care about t

If you love creating art, you don’t care about the scope, you care about the process.

That’s why indie/micro filmmaking is great. It’s immediate, and there are no excuses. If you actually want to do it, you will.

Developing longer term/bigger budget projects is great too, but not at the expense of your ability to create now.

The best art is always made just for the sake of it. It never starts as a business plan.

Still my favorite camera to shoot with. Super 8mm format with pro 16mm controls for frame rate, shutter, and even a built in light meter.
